American Rifleman Magazine Features Cabela's 50th Anniversary Model 70 on Cover.
This year marks the 50th Anniversary of the Cabela's company. Today Cabela's is often called "The World's Foremost Outfitter." But is wasn't always that way. Cabela's started small. Really small. In an American Dream story Cabela's was started by Dick Cabela and his wife, selling fishing gear (primarily fishing flies) on the side way back in 1961.
In the article by Richard Mann in the September 2011 issue of American Rifleman magazine you can read the story of Cabela's and the history of how they became one of the most legendary sporting goods retailers in the world.
To celebrate this incredible achievements of Cabela's They commissioned special products from some of the industry's top brands. This included Winchester Repeating Arms and both the Model 70 and the Model 94. Shown below -- on the first page of the article -- is the Cabela's 50th Anniversary Model 70 in the Special Featherweight model commissioned by Cabela's. It is not an "off-the-shelf" configuration, but one designed in a cooperative effort between the gun guys at Winchester Repeating Arms and the ultra avid team of guy buyers at Cabela's. This special Model 70 features a featherweight barrel profile with a twist: it is fitted to a sporter style stock creating a rifle that is unique in both its look and fit.
