At the 2012 SHOT Show American Hunter did an interview with the Winchester Product Manager about the new Jack O'Connor Tribute Model 70s. 2012 is the 75th Anniversary of the Model 70. It is fitting that the primary gun celebrating this milestone is pattern after the favorite rifle of Jack O'Connor. O'Conner made no bones about which rifle he preferred and he set the industry on it's side when he strongly promoted the 270 Winchester caliber for many big game hunting situations, including elk. The Jack O'Connor Tribute guns are very close to the look, fit and feel of his own special Model 70. The original is shown in the video below.
